About this business

Areguá is a colonial town on the shores of Lake Ypacaraí, 30 km from Asunción, declared a UNESCO Creative City on October 31, 2019 in craftsmanship and folk arts. Known as the "capital of strawberries and ceramics", its cobblestone streets are lined with artisan workshops where clay figures, pots, sculptures and painted ceramics are handmade. Visitors can watch the creation process and join workshops. The Centro Cultural del Lago, directed by artist Ysanne Gayet, offers a contemporary view of local ceramic art. In July-August, the famous Strawberry Fair celebrates local production with music and gastronomy. The combination of colonial heritage, living craftsmanship and lakeside scenery makes it the most charming day trip from Asunción.
