About Dr. Cecilio Báez
Dr. Cecilio Báez is a district in Caaguazú department named after the Paraguayan jurist, historian, and politician Cecilio Báez (1862–1941), who served as president of the Republic from 1905 to 1906. A prolific intellectual and relevant figure of Paraguayan liberalism, Báez left an extensive body of work in law, history, and political philosophy. The district is integrated into Caaguazú's agricultural fabric, with soybean, maize, and cattle production sustaining the economy of its rural communities. The fertile plains of central-eastern Paraguay are the backdrop for a local life firmly rooted in farming.
