About Emboscada

Emboscada is a district with significant colonial history in northern Cordillera: during the colonial period it was home to a settlement of free people of African descent, known as libertos, established by the Spanish colonial authorities. This singular origin sets Emboscada apart within Paraguay's historical landscape. Its location at the northern edge of the department, near the Paraguay River, gives it distinctive geographical features, and the district retains a local identity tied to this particular historical heritage.
