About Jara

Jara is a traditional middle-class residential neighborhood located in the northeastern zone of Asunción, within the San Roque district, covering 1.42 km² with 8,136 inhabitants according to the 2022 Census. Its boundaries are Avenida General Artigas (north), Avenida Brasilia (east), Avenida Mariscal López — the artery connecting the historic center with the northern corporate axis — (south), and Avenida General Santos (west, border with Las Mercedes). This strategic location places the neighborhood at the midpoint between Asunción's historic center and the Aviadores del Chaco corporate corridor, with quick car access to both poles. Avenida Brasilia is the main commercial and service axis of the neighborhood, concentrating restaurants, pharmacies, supermarkets, and entertainment venues, as well as being a reference for nightlife. Plaza Herminio Giménez is the central green space of the neighborhood. The historic route of the Carlos Antonio López Railway crosses the area, recalling the rail importance of Asunción in the 19th century. Jara is home to several educational institutions, two metropolitan police stations (9th and 19th), and a mixed real estate offer: traditional single-family homes, mid-rise residential buildings with amenities, and apartment projects with integrated greenery.
