About Loreto

Loreto is a district in the department of Concepción, in northern Paraguay's Región Oriental. Its name evokes the Marian devotion of Loreto, a tradition widespread in Hispanic-American Catholic geography and shared by various localities across the continent. Extensive cattle ranching and agricultural production are the main activities in the district, consistent with the economic profile of Concepción department. The departmental capital, the city of Concepción on the Paraguay River and commercial hub of northern Paraguay, concentrates the services that supply the region's districts.
