About Cocina Clandestina
Cocina Clandestina is one of Asunción's most singular and charming restaurants, and one of the hidden gems of Paraguayan gastronomy. Located behind railings in Villa Aurelia and surrounded by lush garden, the restaurant has a small and very intimate space with soft lighting, minimalist décor and an atmosphere that invites relaxed conversation. Chef-owner Sergio González has a clear philosophy: bringing the Paraguayan pantry to its maximum expression without artifice. His à la carte menu rescues ingredients like veal sweetbreads, creamy roast yucca, river surubí and local market herbs and vegetables, elevating them with fine dining techniques that achieve surprising results. Cocina Clandestina appears in 50Best Discovery, the gastronomic discovery directory from the organizers of Latin America's 50 Best. The restaurant opens Monday through Saturday exclusively for dinner.
