11,000-Hectare Cattle and Agricultural Property in Bahía Negra, Alto Paraguay
Fuerte Olimpo, Paraguay
Centro
Alto Paraguay is Paraguay's most remote and least populated department, located in the far north of the Región Occidental (Chaco), with its capital at Fuerte Olimpo. It borders Brazil to the east and Bolivia to the north and west, with the Paraguay River running along its eastern edge. Low population density and minimal road infrastructure make Alto Paraguay one of the most isolated territories in the country. Extensive cattle ranching is the primary productive activity. Along its eastern fringes, the department shares characteristics with the Pantanal, one of the world's largest wetlands. Fuerte Olimpo is Paraguay's northernmost departmental capital and is accessed primarily by river along the Paraguay River, underscoring the frontier and remote character of the entire territory.
